Fishing in Lac Ste Hélène

For everyone something for everyone

Bujaleuf is located in the heart of the Pays Monts et Barrages and is surrounded by lakes and rivers. There are dozens of kilometers of streams and 230 hectares of lakes where practically all fish species are represented. All this within a radius of barely 20 kilometers.

Lac Ste Hélène, right in front of the campsite, is a 70-hectare lake. The months of May and June are most popular with fishing enthusiasts. But fishing also takes place in the lake in the summer. At the reception there is a guide that extensively describes all the fishing spots in the Haute Vienne.

A large part of the bank is accessible to fishermen. Many jetties and fishing spots have been created. In addition, there are also 2 jetties accessible to wheelchairs or people with disabilities, one of which is right at the entrance of the campsite. In addition to during the day, it is also allowed to carp fish at night.

Station Pêche

In 2018, Bujaleuf was awarded the 'Station Pêche' label. All fishing locations of 'Station Pêche' encourage recreational fishing with respect for the environment. The aim is to give fishing tourism a positive boost. Not only for the 1.5 million French fishermen, but also for tourists who like to cast a line.

There are several fishing licenses for sale: Including an annual fishing license, a 15-day holiday fishing license or a day ticket for fishing.

Fishing competitions

You can fish in Lac St Hélène all year round. Also by boat, provided you respect the signs. Outside the motorboat area, a strip of 25m from the banks is prohibited for navigation and the speed is limited to 5 km/hour. From May to the end of January you can fish for pike and zander in the lakes. In the Haute-Vienne, the catch size of pike is set at 60cm.

Fishing competitions are regularly organized along the banks of Lac St Hélène. It is then a pleasant hustle and bustle and at the end of the afternoon the prize ceremony is often at the campsite.
